German Chancellor Angela Merkel has suggested making leader of the Ukrainian Choice movement Viktor Medvedchuk a mediator in a tripartite contact group, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has agreed to this proposal.

“As a result of the conversation (…) the German chancellor has
suggested engaging Medvedchuk as an intermediary for the activities of
the tripartite contact group made of [Ukraine’s second president] Leonid
Kuchma, [OSCE representative] Heidi Tagliavini, [Russian Ambassador to
Ukraine] Mikhail Zurabov. The Ukrainian president and other participants
of the conversation agreed with Angela Merkel’s proposal,” the
Ukrainian president’s press service said on Wednesday about the outcome
of a telephone conversation involving Poroshenko, Merkel, Russian
President Vladimir Putin and French President Francois Hollande.
