German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated the European Union is considering options for expanding the list of persons involved in Russia's aggression in Ukraine, who will be applied sanctions to, Radio Svoboda has reported.

“The current situation is unsatisfactory. The expansion of the list [of persons who will be applied sanctions to] is now on agenda,” Merkel said at the G20 summit in Brisbane.

The German chancellor intends on the sidelines of the summit in Brisbane to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Merkel, however, noted she is not expecting any “sudden and qualitative changes” on the results of this meeting.
