Members of illegal armed groups shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 military aircraft in Donetsk region on Aug. 8 evening, ATO spokesman Vladyslav Selezniov told Interfax-Ukraine.

“A MiG-29 fighter has been shot down from an anti-aircraft missile system, presumably a Buk system,” he said.

According to him, the plane crashed not far from the town of Horlivka.

The pilots to the last were taking the plane away from residential areas, Selezniov said.

The crew ejected, the pilots keep in touch, the search and rescue operation continues, he said.
