You're reading: Military men from Russian base in Tajikistan were not sent to Ukrainian border

Moscow - The media reports stating that servicemen from Russia's 201st military base stationed on the territory of Tajikistan have been sent to the Ukrainian border are false, Yaroslav Roshchupkin, an official representative of the Central Military District, told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

“This information is untrue. It’s false,” Roshchupkin said.

Some media earlier reported that some 3,000 servicemen from Russia’s 201st military base had been sent to the Ukrainian border.

Russia’s Russia’s 201st military base of the Central Military District is a major Russian military facility stationed outside Russia. The base has some 6,000 servicemen, who live in garrisons located near the Tajik cities of Dushanbe, Kurgan-Tyube, and Kulyab. Under an agreement signed in October 2012, the 201st military base will stay in Tajikistan until at least 2042.
