You're reading: Minister denies alleged exports of tanks by Ukraine to Georgia

Ukraine's industrial policy minister on Friday dismissed an allegation by a parliament deputy early last month that state company Ukrspetsexport planned to supply Georgia with 12 tanks of the T-84 Oplot model by the end of October.

T-84 tanks are manufactured by the Malyshev Plant in Kharkiv.

"The Malyshev Plant has no resources to manufacture so many tanks this year," the minister, Volodymyr Novytsky, told a briefing in denying the allegation by Valery Konovaliuk of the Party of Regions.

Currently the plant is manufacturing tanks for the Ukrainian armed forces, Novytsky said. He did not say how many tanks were to be made.
