You're reading: Ministry: Three Ukrainians killed and eleven injured in two car accidents in Belarus

A car accident occurred in the outskirts of Minsk on July 6, in which one Ukrainian citizen was killed and nine received injuries of varying severity, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

“On July 6 a car accident happened on the Minsk ring road, as a result of which one citizen of Ukraine died and nine Ukrainians received injures of varying severity, and were hospitalized in medical establishments in Minsk,” the head of the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleh Voloshyn, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to a report from the Belarusian police, the car accident was caused by the collision of a Mercedes-Sprinter minibus carrying Ukrainian citizens with a MAZ car. The minibus was traveling from Russia to Ukraine via Belarus.

According to the Foreign Ministry, another car accident happened on July 6 on Brest-Minsk road, as a result of which two Ukrainians were killed and two others were seriously injured. They were hospitalized in Brest central regional hospital. The bodies of the dead Ukrainians were repatriated to Ukraine on July 7.

“Belarus is conducting an inquiry into these car accidents. The Foreign Ministry, the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus and the Ukrainian Consulate General in Brest are providing consular support in these matters,” Voloshyn said.
