Ukrainian army positions came under rocket attacks from Russian-led insurgents near villages in eastern Ukraine early on Saturday, with two soldiers dying and 21 others being wounded, the head of Kyiv-based group Information Resistance said.

“There was a series of attacks on the positions of anti-terrorist operation forces with the use of BM-21 Grade multiple rocket launchers. Namely, positions near the villages of Nyzhne Derevechko, Diakove and Zelenopillia were attacked. One serviceman was killed and 17 were wounded,” Dmytro Tymchuk said on Facebook.

Army positions near the villages of Metalist and Rubizhne came under mortar attacks, with one soldier being killed and four others wounded, Tymchuk said.

Moreover, he said, “several members of security forces hit a landmine when the village of Siversk was being taken under control.” 

“One serviceman was killed and two were wounded,” Tymchuk said.
