You're reading: Moscow accuses Kyiv of protracting constitutional reform

The current authorities in Kyiv are protracting the reform of their Constitution despite claims of being ready to start it in the very near future, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“Why did they wait for so long, at least, until the Geneva meeting so
as to finally articulate the need for the constitutional reform? Why
are they still protracting this reform despite the loud declaration of
launching it in the very near future?” he told press conference in
Moscow.

The fact that southeastern Ukraine is seeing an explosion of popular outrage needs no proof, he said.

“Any unbiased observer, seeing reports from the scene, can make such a
conclusion. People have been driven into despair, people cannot
understand why the Kyiv authorities are unable to put an end to the
dominance of extremists,” Lavrov said.
