You're reading: Moscow confirms intention to secure humanitarian mission for southeast Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that the Ukrainian authorities have been avoiding cooperation in tackling the humanitarian issues of the population in southeast Ukraine, and called this an "absolutely irresponsible" position.

“Russia considers it necessary to mobilize the international community
into providing immediate aid for residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk
regions, the situation in which is on the brink of a humanitarian
disaster, and will therefore persist in advancing its initiative to form
a humanitarian mission for this Ukrainian region,” the ministry said in
a commentary.
