PJSC MTS Ukraine estimates the cost of repairing damage to its network caused by fighting in the east of Ukraine at Hr 2.5 million, the press service of the operator has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“According to the most modest preliminary estimates, the cost of repairing infrastructure objects damaged in the east of Ukraine amounted to Hr 2.5 million. The information is not final, as there is no access to a number of objects so far. An important point is the restoring of the electricity supply system in Sloviansk,” MTS Ukraine said.

The press service noted that engineers are ready to start repair work in Sloviansk as soon as they get permission for the work.

“MTS communications are operating as normal wherever hostilities are not going on and access to communications facilities is allowed. Additionally, there are a number of objects (in particular, in Luhansk and Donetsk), access to which is still limited. Therefore, where it is technically possible, the company restores connection through rerouting traffic, creating “virtual” servers based on the technical center located in Kyiv,” reads the report.
