Ukraine's national budget in May 2014 could short-receive around Hr 1.5 billion in taxes and duties due to the situation in southeast Ukraine, First Deputy Income and Tax Ministry of Ukraine Ihor Bilous has said.

“Until now revenues from the southern and eastern regions came in line with the projections. However, due to recent events we’re preparing for difficulties. According to the most pessimistic scenario and the repetition of the Crimea scenario, the Ukrainian budget could short-receive around Hr 1.5 billion, including Hr 900 million from large taxpayers located in Donetsk, Luhansk and Odesa regions, in particular, Hr 319.4 million from Donetsk region, Hr 106.4 million from Luhansk region and Hr 159.2 million in Odesa region,” he said.

Bilous also said that the share of revenues of the consolidated budget of the country in 2013 of Donetsk region was 9.1 percent, Luhansk region – 2.8 percent, Odesa region – 3.7 percent and Kharkiv region – 7.4 percent.

“This is a large risk. We’re keeping in touch with heads of our divisions in these regions and have the situation under control. Our top-priority is safety of our employees and their families,” he added.

As reported, revenue of the general fund of Ukraine’s national budget came to Hr 106.2 billion in January-April 2014, which is 0.3 percent up the target for the period. In general, in January-April 2014, Hr 120.4 billion was sent to the national budget, which is 13.5 percent up year-over-year. Value added tax (VAT) worth over Hr 13.1 billion was refunded in January-April 2014.
