The Donbas territorial defense battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine together with Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defense battalions Dnipro and Shakhtarsk now control the town of Ilovaisk in Donetsk region.
“Ukrainian soldiers are controlling the whole town, but counter-attacks from the side of the terrorists continue,” the press service of the National Guard of Ukraine reported on Aug. 20.
The National Guard said Ukrainian servicemen are receiving reinforcements from the Azov volunteer battalion.
However, “the terrorists are attacking using tanks and artillery.”
“Our soldiers heroically repelled three assaults by the terrorists. A struggle for the liberation of residential areas in Donetsk region from the terrorists is going on,” the report said.
