You're reading: National Security and Defense Council says ‘period of quiet’ agreed upon in eastern Ukraine

The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council reports that a period of quiet was declared in southeastern Ukraine starting from 6 p.m. local time, during which any combat activities and shellfire are supposed to be stopped.

 “According to agreements reached today, the so-called regime of quiet has been declared since 6 p.m., during which combat actions and shellfire in the anti-terrorist operation zone should be stopped,” the council said on its Web site.
