NATO hopes Ukraine's defense reforms will get adequate funding, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning Jiri Sedivy has said during a meeting with Ukrainian reporters.

He said the alliance has always urged Ukraine to increase the funding of Armed Forces’ reform. According to him, the funds allocated by Ukraine were not enough to achieve the goals and objectives of the reforms.

NATO also called on Ukraine to speed up the reforms, including by cutting the army’s manpower, the representative of the alliance said.

However, the alliance understands that Ukraine is facing financial and economic difficulties, and expects that after these are settled, army reform will be given the appropriate attention, Sedivy said.
