The banknote paper factory of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has introduced a technology for producing paper impregnated with an anti-fungal agent, the bank has reported.

“Now the bank is introducing European industrial technology to achieve [certain] technological indicators of the paper quality for the banknotes, which will increase of the term of banknote use, and [which will allow the] production of paper with an anti-fungal agent,” reads the report from the NBU passed to Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the report, the double-layered, high thickness paper, which is produced at the factory with formaldehyde-free technology, meets the latest standards of wear-resistance and non-pollution.

As reported, the total cash in circulation in Ukraine grew by 8.1 percent in H1, to Hr 219.8 billion.
