A sitting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council will on Feb.10 discuss the issue of possible sanctions against Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Batkivschyna Party Hryhoriy Nemyria has reported, referring to a meeting with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.

In the interview with Interfax-Ukraine, he said that he and the daughter of ex-premier of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, Yevhenia Tymoshenko, had a number of meetings during the Munich Conference.

“When we discussed sanctions, Bildt confirmed that this is one of the elements of politics that will be discussed in details on Feb. 10 at the sitting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, after the visit of Ashton [visit of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton to Ukraine this week],” the Ukrainian politician said.

As Nemyria said, during the meetings European representatives expressed anxiety concerning the possible introduction of a state of emergency in Ukraine.

Besides, European politicians in their talks drew attention to the fact that there has been no attempt to investigate cases of violence against journalists, demonstrators and politicians, Nemyria said.
