The first meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation will be held on Wednesday, December 12.

According to a decision taken by the parliament’s preparatory group on Wednesday, the ceremonial session opening the work of the newly elected parliament will start at 1000 on December 12.

The next meeting of the preparatory group, which will be held on December 3, will approve the composition and powers of the subgroups that will deal with the organization of the work of the next parliament.

During the discussion, Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn proposed creating four subgroups. One of them will prepare the ceremonial meeting. The second will determine the number of committees and their functions. The third will determine the seating of MPs in the session hall. The fourth subgroup will address the issue of ensuring individual voting by MPs.

It was also decided to offer the post of deputy head of the preparatory group to the Batkivschyna United Opposition and the post of secretary to the UDAR Party. It is expected that these parties should themselves offer their candidates for these posts.
