The new Peremoha subway station in Kharkiv could be commissioned by late 2012, according to Oleksandr Krivtsov, Kharkiv's first deputy mayor.

"We’ll try to finish [the station] by late 2012. There is a technical possibility of doing this in 2012. If we get the funds, the plans will be realized," he told the press after a meeting of the city’s working group on the construction of the subway.

Active construction work, which was suspended in May 2011 due to the absence of financing, has now been resumed at the station, he said.

Krivtsov said that by late 2011, constructors are planning to spend Hr 101.3 million foreseen in a cabinet resolution on the work.

The first tranche of Hr 50 million has been obtained.

"Hr 50 million was sent for construction and assembly work, and the remaining Hr 50 million will be used to acquire an electric power station and materials for work in January-February. Now we’ve stepped up the construction work in two entrance halls and have started building two entrances. Soon we’ll start building a tunnel. We hope that next Wednesday we’ll reach the planned level of spending. It’s good that we’ve already had Hr 50 million, but we’re crying out for another Hr 50 million," he said.

It was initially planned to launch the Peremoha subway station in 2012, in time for Victory Day on May 9.
