State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia on May 29 introduced a new train schedule for 2011-2012.

Earlier, the head of the main passenger department at Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Ivanko, reported that the new timetable for 2011-2012 foresees the running of 350 pairs of trains, including 193 trains on local routes, 140 on routes to CIS countries, and 17 on routes to other foreign countries.

The new schedule foresees the launch of several new trains, in particular, from Simferopol to Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kazan and Rostov, as well as an increase in the number of trips from Saint Petersburg to Yevpatoria and Feodosia, as well as from Moscow to Feodosia.

In addition, the route of the Kharkiv-Ivano-Frankivsk train was extended to Yaremche, and that of the Kharkiv-Mukacheve train to Uzhgorod.

According to Ivanko, the new schedule foresees shorter journey times for 100 high-speed and 25 passenger trains. The total time of trips of all of the trains was reduced by 80 hours. As of May 26, some 93 of the 109 planned summer trains, including 77 to Crimea, had started running. In addition, 175 additional booking-offices will be opened in summer, including seven mobile ones.
