Nine residents of Donetsk were killed and 30 more injured as a result of fighting in the city on Wednesday, reads a statement posted on the Web site of Donetsk City Council.

“A shell hit bus No. 17 near a bus stop ‘Polihrafichna Street’ on Kyivsky Avenue. As a result, six people were killed, whereas seven people on the bus and 18 people on the street were injured,” reads the statement.

In addition, School No. 57 on Novoyasynuvatska Street was damaged as a result of shelling. Three people, a biology teacher and two parents, were killed, whereas five people sustained fragmentation wounds. The blast also smashed windows on the school’s first and second floors and damaged the facade of the building.
