Commandant of the House of Trade Unions and MP from Batkivschyna faction Stepan Kubiv has called reports about firearms being stockpiled in the House of Trade Unions a provocation by the authorities.

“As commandant of the House of Trade Unions I deny that we’re allegedly piling up firearms here. We’re a peaceful action. We didn’t, don’t and won’t arm people on Maidan. This is a provocation,” the party’s press service quotes him as saying.

Kubiv also called a provocation the penetration of armed people on the Maidan’s territory.

“This is a criminal group purposefully formed by the authorities to conduct destructive actions on the Maidan.”

As reported on Saturday morning, Interior Minister of Ukraine Vitaliy Zakharchenko said firearms “are being piled up” at the House of Trade Unions and Kyiv City State Administration building, which have been occupied by the opposition since December 10.
