You're reading: No visit to Moscow in Yanukovych’s schedule for February

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych currently has no plans to visit Moscow in February, the Ukrainian president's press secretary Daria Chepak told Interfax-Ukraine.

“At this point, there is no such visit in the president’s schedule for February. We will tell the media as soon as such a visit is scheduled,” she told the agency on Wednesday.

The Russian newspaper Izvestia reported on Wednesday, citing a source from the Ukrainian president’s entourage, that Yanukovych plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in February, before the signing of a free trade agreement at the European Union summit scheduled for February 25.

Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Izvestia that the Kremlin had not received any information about Yanukovych’s plans to visit Moscow.

It was reported earlier that a meeting between Yanukovych and Putin had been planned for December 18, 2012 in Moscow, but that it was cancelled at the last minute.
