A telephone call between German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko took place late on Monday. It was announced later that Merkel invited high-ranking diplomats of the four countries to meet in Berlin on March 6 to discuss the situation in the east of Ukraine.
