Brussels - The agreements reached during the latest round of Russian-Ukrainian-EU gas talks have not altered and Ukraine's Naftogaz is still supposed to pay debt of $2 billion for Russian gas by June 10, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said after another round of talks in Brussels late Monday, June 9.

Naftogaz has $1.45 billion to pay for gas supplied in November-December last year and $500 million in part-payment for gas supplied in April-May, Novak said.

He said proposals on the schedule for debt repayment, the reliability of gas transit via Ukraine, gas pumping into underground storage facilities and Kyiv’s ability to pay were discussed at the talks.

For the first time, the talks covered the price of gas and issues related to future payment for and supplies of gas in June-August 2014.

“We believe we have drafted fairly constructive proposals, which should suit the relevant parties. We’ll continue the talks tomorrow,” Novak said.
