The peace plan of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for de-escalating situation in eastern part of the country remains in effect and could start to work even before negotiations in Minsk take place, Andriy Lysenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, has said.

“We hope that during the meeting [in Minsk on August 26] we’ll reach definite agreements, and the president’s peace plan is still in effect. If the terrorist agree to stick to this plan, it will be possible to put an end to this war even before the meeting,” Lysenko said at a briefing when asked whether a ceasefire is possible for the period of talks in Minsk.
