You're reading: NSDC secretary sees necessity in sectoral sanctions against Russia

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy is convinced that sanctions against Russia should include the economic sphere of the country - whole economic sectors - and should not aim at certain persons.

“Until the Kremlin feels that a danger for the Russian economy is
increasing, it won’t stop,” he said at a meeting with representatives of
the European People’s Party (EPP) of the European parliament, the press
service of the council reported on Wednesday, July 23.

The press service said that MEPs assured that the application of
pressure on Russia due to its aggression against Ukraine would not
weaken.

The sides also discussed the issues of international security, the
situation in the eastern part of Ukraine and the pace of the
investigation into the crash of the Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing-777 in
eastern Ukraine.

EPP President Joseph Daul, chairman of the EPP group in the European
parliament Manfred Weber and other MEPs took part in the meeting.
