Ukraine has not started processing the Russian humanitarian cargo due to lack of documents on its contents.

“Throughout Aug 19 Ukrainian border guards and customs officers did not start processing the Russian humanitarian cargo after all. Ukraine has not yet received documents on the cargo contents,” Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing on Aug 20.

The Ukrainian State Border Service received from the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine only a list of delegation, who will accompany the humanitarian cargo across the Ukrainian-Russian border, he said.

“ICRC representatives said that they have not received safety guarantees for advance group members so far,” Lysenko said.

The convoy with the Russian humanitarian aid for Ukraine is ready to start moving, the Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier on Wednesday. “Common understanding of readiness to start the convoy has been registered,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following Wednesday meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Head of the ICRC Operations in Europe and Central Asia Laurent Corbaz.
