You're reading: Nuland leaving Kyiv optimistic towards Ukrainian progress when becoming European state

The United States stands together with Ukraine when the later is going through the reforms challenges, said U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.

Now one can see definite progress in this process,
she said at a press conference following her visit to Kyiv on May 16.

Nuland has said the U.S. stands together with Ukrainians in its
efforts to create a democratically stable and prosperous European state.

She said that two days of her visit in Kyiv were “busy, but great.”

The Kerry’s Assistant reiterated that during the visit to Kyiv she
met with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister
Arseniy Yatseniuk, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, Finance
Minister Natalie Jaresko, Ukrainian parliamentarians and Verkhovna Rada
Chairman Volodymyr Groysman, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Kyiv Mayor
Vitali Klitschko, the leader of the opposition and representatives of
the OSCE in Ukraine.

In addition, Nuland had conversation with future Ukrainian policemen, who are taught by their U.S. colleagues now.

According to her, these meetings covered the reform issues in Ukraine, constitutional reform as well and decentralization.

In conclusion she has said that she flies away from Kyiv with a sense
of optimism since she noticed the country was working hard at this
difficult time despite the painful reforms.

Nuland has stressed that Ukraine builds a new democratic European Ukraine.
