The number of housing sale and purchase deals in Kyiv in May this year increased by 15.7% compared to April, to 2,776 apartments, while the growth in April slowed down to 9.6% compared to March, according to the SV Development consulting company, with reference to its division, SV Realty (both based in Kyiv).

Some 1,630 deals were signed on the secondary housing market and 1,146 transactions on the primary housing market from May 1 to May 31, 2012.

"The maximum number of transactions (67%) was signed for apartments with a price of up to $100,000, the share of apartments with a price of $100,000 to $200 000 was 22%, and that of apartments with a price of over $200,000 was 11%," reads a statement.

The highest average price of housing on the secondary market was in Pechersky district ($2,913 per square meter, $2,513 per square meter on the primary market), and the lowest one in Darnytsky district ($1,459 per square meter, $1,310 per square meter on the primary market).

"The greatest demand was shown for two-room apartments (48% of all transactions), that for one-room apartments was 41% and that for apartments with three and more rooms amounted to 11%," the report states.
