You're reading: Number of refugees from Crimea and anti-terrorist operation zone reaches over 256,000

The total number of temporarily displaced Ukrainian citizens from Crimea amounts to 18,000 people, and the number of refugees from the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone is over 248,000, according to the information center of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

“According to the latest update, the total number of Ukrainian citizens resettled from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to other areas equals to 17,837 pepole, 538 of whom are children, and 1,264 – disabled and elderly persons. Within 24 hours, 43 people, 15 of whom are children and 4 – disabled and elderly persons were resettled,” Deputy Head of NSDC information center Volodymyr Poliovy said at a briefing on Saturday.

At the same time, 238,235 people were resettled from the ATO zone to other areas, including 79,242 children, and 35,388 disabled and elderly persons. A total of 4,620 refugees were registered within 24 hours.

NSDC information center reminded that four transit points for meeting refugees are functioning on the border of ATO zone: in Donetsk region – near Mariupol and Krasnoarmiysk towns, in Luhansk region – near Lysychansk and Svatove towns.
