The Donetsk budget for the three weeks of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship had received extra Hr 300 million, Donetsk Mayor Oleksandr Lukyanchenko has said at a press conference dedicated to the Euro 2012 finals.

“The championship in the city passed comfortably,” he said.

“We managed to create conditions for fans and the city residents,” he added.

The mayor expressed gratitude to President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, FC Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov, the staff of the Donbass-Arena stadium, the UEFA leadership for their assistance in holding the Euro 2012 matches in Donetsk at a high level.

Lukyanchenko expressed special gratitude to volunteers and the city residents.

According to him, over 300,000 fans visited Donetsk during the three weeks of Euro 2012. Some 70,000 of them came by road, 70,000 by rail, and 57,000 by air. Most guests came from Russia (60%, 39,000 fans), France (15,700) and Britain (15,300).
