Ukrainian authorities before the Vilnius summit plan to fulfill all the liabilities required for signing the Association Agreement with the European Union scheduled for late November, Head of the main department of constitutional and legal modernization at the Ukrainian presidential administration, Maryna Stavniychuk said.

“Ukraine today is seriously and actively working on the liabilities we’ve taken from the point of view of the Association for the Vilnius summit and on the fulfillment of the tasks the country faces,” Stavniychuk said on the Ukrainian service of the Voice of America, commenting on the forecasts of the possible postponement of the signing of the Association Agreement for 2014.

She said that the fact that the Ukrainian parliament passed at first reading a draft law regarding strengthening independence of judges; a draft law on the Prosecutor General’s Office was presented and sent to the parliament; a draft law relating to the improvement of election laws has been registered in the parliament and some other issues show that we’re actively and persistently working on the issues that should be settled before the Vilnius summit.

“Thus, the task of fulfilling only plan A is set today – to work on the issues linked to the Association with the EU,” she said.
