The "self-defense forces of Slovyansk," Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, claim that unknown persons opened fire on a militia mobile group.

Reports of possible fatalities are being verified.

“Forty minutes ago a group of armed persons was spotted on a motorway
leading from Sloviansk to [Sviatohirsk]. A mobile group headed to the
site from the Kombirkomochny checkpoint. However, fire was opened on
them from a nearby forest. The information available to us indicates
that one person was killed and another one was injured,” a Sloviansk
self-defense force spokesman told Interfax.

“Self-defense” members are currently combing the forest looking for the attackers, he said.

Interfax has so far been unable to obtain official confirmation of
the report from other sources or law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.
