 One person died as a result of a shootout among people driving in three cars near a checkpoint at Bakhmutsky way in Luhansk region. One person, who was in a car which pursued two other vehicles (one of the cars was stolen), has died and two other people have been injured, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry regional department's press office said on May 8.

 According to the police, at around 0400 two VAZ-2105 cars (there is evidence that one of the cars was stolen from a recruiting office) and a Daewoo Nexia came near the checkpoint in the area of the Teplychne-Oleksandrivka-Metalist intersection, they were pursued by a Niva car. People in these cars were shooting at each other.

The armed people at the checkpoint seeing what was happening opened fire at the moving cars.

According to preliminary information, one of the passengers of the Niva car died from his injuries.

A resident of Odessa and a resident of Luhansk, who were driving in Daewoo Nexia, were taken with gun wounds to one of the city’s hospitals. The Odessa resident after receiving medical assistance left the hospital.

Investigators are working at the site.
