One Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another was wounded in a shootout with militants near Stanytsia Luhanska, Hennadiy Moskal, the head of Luhansk Oblast Military and Civilian Administration, reported.

Moskal said the shootout occurred in the village of Malynove, Stanytsia Luhanska district, around 5.00 p.m. on July 9.

“Unfortunately, one military man was killed (he was thirty) and another one was wounded and is now in hospital,” Moskal was quoted as saying in a report released by his press service.

Moskal said a 35-year-old local resident who was driving by in his car sustained minor wounds. He was given emergency assistance on the site and was not hospitalized.

The night was calm in Stanytsia Luhanska and there were only local shootouts.

“Besides Stanytsia Luhanska, fighting occurred in Novotoshkivske. The village in the mine area came under fire from Vasilyok mortars, and shots were fired in the area of the 29th checkpoint on Bakhmutka and in Krymske. No one was hurt in the attacks and there was no destruction,” the press service reported.
