The Opposition Bloc has demanded that the Ukrainian president disarm and dissolve all militarized units having no official status.
“Mobs of angered armed people are wandering around the capital of Ukraine, ready to carry out reprisals on parliamentarians, politicians, and ordinary people disagreeing with their views and convictions. The government does not control the situation and is incapable of protecting the people from street gangsters posing as patriotic forces,” the Opposition Bloc said in a statement circulated on Wednesday.
“This has become possible because of the authorities’ tacit support for any armed units,” the statement says.
“Our country is going through hard times and needs protection today. However, this is not a reason to create another branch of government, camouflagecrazy, with groups wearing quasi-military uniforms trying to dictate their will to the whole of society,” it said.
“The Opposition Bloc demands that the president of Ukraine immediately disarm and dissolve all militarized units that have no official status,” it said.
