The opposition has stressed the need to create an ad hoc parliamentary commission to investigate the circumstances of the use of funds allocated for the construction of facilities for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

“The opposition is demanding the creation of a commission to
investigate the spending of the $10 billion allocated for the
construction of Euro 2012 facilities,” the head of the council of the
Batkivschyna united opposition, OU-PSD faction deputy Arseniy Yatseniuk,
said from the parliament rostrum on Tuesday.

He said that the taxes of Ukrainian citizens had also been spent on
preparations for the championship and that “Ukrainians must know how
this money was spent.”
