You're reading: Opposition, Regions Party agree to hold their Saturday rallies in Kyiv at different time

Kyiv City State Administration has approved the routes of rallies due to be held in the capital of Ukraine on May 18. 

Representatives of the political forces that applied to hold rallies achieved consent for them at a meeting at Kyiv City State Administration.

In particular, the Batkivschyna Party’s rally will march from European Square up to Mykhailivska Street and to Sofiyska Square. Batkivschyna agreed to leave European Square 15 minutes earlier than it had planned – at 12:15 p.m.

The Regions Party decided to reschedule its rally by one hour and to start it on European Square at 1 p.m..

Kyiv City State Administration received a total of 16 applications for rallies with a total of 100,000 participants.

According to the document, apart from 30,000 activists of the Batkivschyna Party, 5,000 representatives of the Nastup and 15,000 of the Spilna Sprava public organizations will take part in the opposition’s rally.

The Regions Party rally will move in column from the Museum of the Great Patriotic War to European Square. Around 50,000 people will participate in the rally, according to the party’s application. Some 20,000 members of the Young Regions organization will join its rally on European Square.

In addition, 10,000 activists of Spas Patriotic Assembly will march from Arsenalna Street down Hrushevskoho Street to European Square.

The League of Slavic Youth public organization also applied to hold a rally with 15,000 participants on Sofiyska Square, but during the meeting at the municipal administration it was decided to change the venue of the rally.

As reported, Kyiv will mark Day of Europe on May 18 and various political forces and public organizations are to hold rallies on the same day.
