You're reading: OSCE chairman welcomes signing of memorandum in Minsk

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter has welcomed the signing in Minsk on Sept. 19 of a memorandum on the implementation of the obligations on a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.

“Burkhalter called the memorandum a significant step towards making the ceasefire sustainable and an important contribution in the efforts to peacefully settle the crisis in eastern Ukraine,” reads a statement posted on the OSCE Web site on Saturday, Sept. 20.

He also asked the OSCE participating states for their further support “in terms of additional experts and financial resources.”

In addition, Burkhalter called on all parties to de-escalate the conflict.
