You're reading: OSCE not confirming Human Rights Watch reports about Ukrainian army using cluster bombs

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) has not confirmed the allegations by representatives from Human Rights Watch about the Ukrainian military using cluster bombs in Donbas region.

It is very difficult to assess where these bombs flew in from. We can only say what we have seen with our own eyes. We do not share the viewpoint expressed by Human Rights Watch representatives, OSCE SMM spokesman Michael Bociurkiw said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, Dec. 4.

It was reported that HRW had accused the Ukrainian side of using cluster bombs in shelling the areas with civilian population in the anti-terrorist operation zone in the east of the country.

For their part, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry have denied such accusations and called them baseless.
