Kyiv firefighters were called to burning cars 17 times in the past 24 hours, the press service for the State Emergency Situations Service in Kyiv has reported.

As a result, 23 cars were partially damaged or fully burned.

No mass car arsons were registered, the press service for the State
Emergency Situations Service in Kyiv has reported. In most cases, just
one car was on fire at a time.

According to the rescue services, most fires were caused by arson.
“However, the final reason will be determined by the Kyiv police,” the
press service reported.

In the meantime, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s public relations
department in Kyiv has reported that 17 reports about burning cars had
been received by the Kyiv police from different districts of the city in
the early hours of Jan. 30.

“There is information that four of the 17 cars were registered in
different regions of Ukraine and the others were registered in Kyiv. All
victims, actual owners of the cars, are local residents,” the source
said.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted. The causes of the fires are being determined.
