Russian federal migration officers have made and sent over 215,000 passports to be issued to residents in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, said Yana Smolova, acting assistant at the Crimean office of the Federal Migration Service (FMS).

“By yesterday, April 17, FMS officers had received passport
applications and documentation from over 300,000 Crimeans. Over 250,000
passports have been made and sent to be issued to citizens. I cannot say
how many exactly have been issued – we do not collect such reports on a
daily basis, but normally ready passports are issued immediately,
without delay,” Smolova said.

About 1.5 million Crimeans are to receive Russian passports, head of
the FMS passport unit Fyodor Karpovets told Interfax earlier.
