Over 5,000 Ukrainian troops were wounded and injured in the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas, which began in April 2014, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.

“Over 5,000 troops were wounded and injured in the anti-terrorist operation zone,” Andriy Verba, director of the military medicine department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, said at a press conference on March 31.

Verba said 1,500 troops are now receiving treatment in Ukrainian healthcare establishments.

He said 108 troops have undergone rehabilitation abroad, 88 have received treatment, and 38 are now receiving treatment.
