A total of 6.134 million tourists holidayed in Crimea in 2012, which was 8.1% more than in 2011, Crimean First Deputy Resorts and Tourism Minister Mykola Marinov has said.

“Such growth is observed for the first time over the period of Ukraine’s independence. This is also the result of the work that was carried out by the Crimean Resorts and Tourism Ministry last year,” the resort and information center quoted him as saying.

In addition, the number of tourists who holidayed in Crimea on December 30-31 has significantly grown.

A total of 27,500 tourists spent their holidays in Crimea on December 30-31, 2012, which was 6% more than in the same period in 2011 (25,900).
