You're reading: PACE urges opening of ‘green corridor’ in Debaltseve to save civilians

Brussels – Kristyna Zelienkova, a rapporteur of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), has called for the immediate create of a 'green corridor' near Debaltseve.

“Kristyna Zelienkova, currently on a fact-finding visit to Ukraine to discuss prospects for peace and stability, calls for the urgent creation of a green corridor, for a period of several days, in order to evacuate 5,000 civilians, including women, children and the disabled, from Debaltseve where, despite the recent ceasefire, intensive fighting continues,” the PACE press service reported.

She also announced her intention to discuss a possibility of creating the ‘green corridor’ with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Ukrainian parliamentary speaker Volodymyr Hroisman.
