You're reading: Palestinian’s wife sues Ukrainian government

The wife of a Palestinian engineer who has vanished from a sleeper train in Ukraine and ended up in Israeli jail is suing Ukrainian law enforcement agencies over their failure to properly investigate his disappearance.

Dirar Abu Sisi, 42, went missing in February.

He resurfaced days later in an Israeli prison and was charged with building rockets and training fighters for the militant group Hamas.

He denies the charges.

Abu Sisi’s Ukrainian wife said Thursday she has filed a lawsuit against the Interior Ministry, the Prosecutor General’s Office and other law enforcement agencies in a Kiev court.

She is demanding that the authorities investigate how Abu Sisi was captured and urge Israel to release her husband and send him back to Ukraine.

Ukrainian government said it had no involvement in the arrest.
