Kyiv, August 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The parents of student Ihor Indylo, who died at the Schevchenkivske district department of police in Kyiv, have no complaints about the investigation, but they have doubts about the primary forensic examination, Kyiv Prosecutor Yuriy Udartsov has said.

"The parents [of the deceased student] said some conclusions of the primary forensic medical examination were doubtful and said they hope a repeat examination, which is being conducted at present, will give full answers to all the questions asked of it," Udartsov said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the Kyiv prosecutor, in this case the position of the injured party fully coincides with the position of the prosecutor’s office.

At the same time, the prosecutor of Kyiv said "the parents of Indylo had no complaints about the course of the investigation."

Udartsov said the prosecutor general ordered the investigation group to pay a great deal of attention to checking the claims of the injured party regarding the circumstances of the death of Indylo and promised that a lawful decision on the case would be taken, and be based on an objective assessment of all collected evidence.

The prosecutor of Kyiv said it is too early to speak about the definite cause of death of the student, as not all of the medical documents that were received from Chernihiv region with information on the state Indylo’s health have been studied yet.

As reported, Kyiv prosecutor’s office, following the death of the student at the Shevchenkivske district department of police in Kyiv, on May 28 opened a criminal case on the abuse of office by the employees of this department. The case was opened under Article 365 of the Criminal Code, which foresees up to ten years of imprisonment.

Kyiv police chief Oleksiy Krykun suspended the chief of Shevchenkivske district police department, his deputy, assistant chief of the department’s call center and a district police officer while prosecutors investigate a criminal case on the death of the student at this district police department.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych charged Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko with personally overseeing the investigation into the criminal case on the death of student Ihor Indylo at Shevchenkivsky district police department.

On August 18, in the scope of the investigation Ukraine’s prosecutor general and Kyiv’s prosecutor met with the parents of the dead student.
