You're reading: Parliament: Crimean economy self-sufficient

Crimea is quite capable of providing for itself economically, Deputy Chairman of the Crimean Supreme Council Hryhoriy Ioffe told a press conference.

“Crimea can not only provide for itself, it can help other regions too,” the parliamentarian said.

Asked how Crimea will be solving its economic problems, being statistically a subsidized region, Ioffe said: “The Ukrainian statistic is a terrible weapon.”

As regards subsidies, Crimeans had to give most of their products to the central authorities and then “had to ask with a bow for them to be returned to us,” he said.

The Ukrainian authorities, including security services, were harassing the Crimean businesses, including through their “control of the stalls,” he said. “The principles of capitalism need to be launched,” he said.
