You're reading: Pechersky district court prolongs arrest of two ex-Berkut policemen accused of murder of Maidan activists

The judicial panel of Pechersky district court in Kyiv has prolonged the arrest of two former 'Berkut' riot policemen, Serhiy Zinchenko and Pavlo Abroskin, until March 23, 2015. They are accused of the murder of Euromaidan activists last winter.

The court passed the ruling at a hearing on Friday, as the accused might violate their procedural obligations, influence witnesses and destroy evidence. The court also took into account the high profile of the case.

The hearing lasted 11 hours, as two of the members of the judicial panel were changed, and participants have had to wait for new judges to be appointed.

The next hearing will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16.
