A number of bilateral meetings will take place during a visit by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to Brussels where Ukraine and the European Union are to sign the economic part of their association agreement, said Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis.

“On June 27 we are expecting the most important and historical event
without exaggeration. During the Ukrainian president’s visit to
Brussels, the economic and sectoral provisions of the EU-Ukraine
Agreement will be signed,” Perebyinis said at a briefing on June 25.

This will complete the process started on March 25 with the signing
of the political provisions of the Agreement, he said. The technical
side of the signing procedure has also been agreed with the European
side, the diplomat said.

The signing will take place in any case, regardless of the fact that
“many do not like and want to disrupt (the signing),” the spokesman
said. “It is a civilized choice made by the Ukrainian people,”
Perebyinis said.

The diplomat also said that the European Council meeting will be
attended by the EU leaders and senior members from European
institutions, as well as the Georgian and Moldovan presidents and prime
ministers who will also sign their respective association agreements.

As well as the situation in Ukraine, the EC meeting will focus on the
EU internal development and foreign policy, Perebyinis said.
